Got a tattoo you regret? Whether it’s a name that no longer belongs in your story, a design that’s faded with time, or just something that doesn’t feel like you anymore – we’re here to help. At Smooth Laser, we offer professional tattoo removal using an ND YAG Q-Switch laser, designed specifically to break down ink safely and effectively.

We know that choosing to remove a tattoo is a big decision – but with our expert care, clear advice, and state-of-the-art technology, it’s one you can feel confident about. No judgement, no pressure – just safe, skilled treatment in a welcoming environment.

At Smooth Laser, we don’t just zap and hope for the best. Our approach is thoughtful, medically informed, and designed around your unique tattoo and skin type. Our founder has over six years of industry experience and travels around Scotland teaching other professionals – so you know you’re in the hands of someone who knows their stuff.

We use an ND YAG Q-Switch laser – the gold standard for treating black ink. This laser works by shattering the ink particles under the skin, allowing your body to naturally flush them away over time. Our treatments are spaced out to give your skin time to heal and your immune system time to do its job.

Safety is our top priority. Every client receives a full consultation and patch test before treatment, and we’ll always give you realistic advice about what’s possible, how many sessions you might need, and what kind of results to expect.

It depends on the age, depth, location, and colour of the tattoo. Most black ink tattoos need between 6 to 12 sessions, spaced around 6–12 weeks apart. Some lighter or very deep inks may need more time.

Does it hurt?

Let’s be honest – yes, it can be uncomfortable. Many clients say it feels like a hot elastic band or tiny sparks on the skin. The good news? Each treatment only lasts a few minutes and we’ll cool the area afterwards to reduce any discomfort.

Can I remove part of a tattoo for a cover-up?

Absolutely. We often help clients fade tattoos to make room for new artwork. Fading usually takes fewer sessions than full removal, and we’re happy to work with you (and your tattoo artist) to get the results you need.

Will the tattoo disappear completely?

Black ink responds best, and in many cases can be removed completely. However, results vary depending on how the tattoo was done, your skin type, and your immune response. We’ll talk you through what’s achievable in your consultation.

What should I avoid before and after treatment?

Avoid sun exposure 30 days before and after treatment, fake tan, and active skincare on the area. After treatment, keep the skin clean and dry, avoid picking scabs, and skip hot showers or saunas for a few days. We’ll give you full aftercare instructions to help your skin heal beautifully.

Can I have tattoo removal on my hands, neck or face?

Yes, but these areas can be more sensitive and may require extra care. We’ll assess the area during your consultation and give you honest advice on what to expect.

It’s a short, sharp sensation – similar to a scratch or zap. Most clients tolerate it very well, especially as the treatment only takes a few minutes. Cooling during the session and soothing post-care is provided to reduce discomfort.

Prices start at £55 per session. You’ll be pleasantly surprised that it is not as expensive as you may think. Because each tattoo is unique we can only give a quote per session at your in person consultation. There is no obligation to proceed with removal after the consultation.
